I draw or paint on any material I can obtain. All mediums are fair game in my practice – I’ll use any type of paint, charcoal, graphite, ink, soft pastel, or whatever in between. Scale is simply whatever size the surface is – either what’s affordable or what material I have laying around. My subjects vary but typically revolve around people. I make self-portraits, artworks of other people in my life, and scenes depicting people in general. These works are based on a range of realism and imaginative representation, varying between technical and experimental focuses.
Within my work, I explore my own emotional experiences and relation to others through empathy. A lot of inspiration stems from the music I listen to. Either I’ll hear a lyric that sparks an idea for a work, or I’ll page through playlists to put words to a concept. These thoughts often fester and preoccupy my mind - the only way to move forward is to create them. I spend my time looking for the world’s beauty and wondering about how to interpret it, and with my ability to create, I want nothing more than to share that with people.
